I think I mentioned this one before. We re-registered my Hillman but Hillman no longer existed in the RTA database so it was registered as a Chrysler Unknown. My son was pulled up by the police 'cos the copper knew his cars and knew it was a Hillman, not the Chrysler that came up on his radioed rego query.

My son had to prove it was a Chrysler - fortunately the compliance plates had Chrysler, the owner's handbook had Chrysler, and there was the Chrysler PentaStar on the RH lower mudguard.

A friend's F-I-L tried to register his 1903 Cadillac. The RTA said Cadillac weren't made back then.

I think he eventually got documentation from Cadillac proving the car was made by them at the date given. He did take the car to the States and toured in it. He was welcomed at Cadillac and all over the USA by Caddie car clubs members.

It reminds me of when our son wanted to insure his Hillman Minx with original paintwork. The local NRMA office baulked when Lee gave the colours as white roof with green body. The Penrith office staff "knew" cars never came out of the factory with two colours so it must have been modified. We had to take it to Blacktown for them to inspect it before we could insure it. The bloke in the assessor's office couldn't believe we'd been sent.
