Elisabeth had never ridden or pillioned until after we married. We were in Ceduna in 1970 when she learned to ride - on a sprung heel BSA Bantam with virtually no brakes.
She liked it so we bought her a small Yamaha HT1 trail bike (seen in the photo). I'm sure some of my colleagues' wives wondered about Elisabeth being the only woman with a bunch of blokes on bikes - all those bikes in the Ceduna pic were work colleagues. The thing was that she was the youngest wife on site.
