What are you trying to keep in/out?
looks like i might be doing a couple kilometres of fencing the next few months
i have no real idea how to do it properly so have been trying to glean some info from the net.
from what i have gleaned it appears i should envisage a 4 or 5 wire fence using 1.8m star pickets at about 5m spacing between heavier posts and stays (every 200m or so).
sound okay ?
i would be interested to hear peoples ideas on the best way to do it bearing in mind this is a long project.

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
So what your actually saying is anyone that knows how to fence grab a carton and your camp gear book a weekend and we are all going to fence![]()
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
The number of strands you use is usually dependant on what you are trying to keep in (or out). If you are only defining a boundry, then 2 strands would probably do. More could be added latter to keep stock in/out.

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
5-6" pine posts, 10-12' spacings, 5 strands of barbed wire, with 1 strand, held off with fibreglass rod, so it sticks out from the fence, makes for a good fence![]()

As posted before what do you want to keep in or out?
We have over 8000 acres here and boundary can be a burden I can tell you.
As you would be aware the neighbour will have to be happy with the elected type of fence for the application due to cost as they should pay half in some way.
We use 3' 6" netting + five 2.8mm wires and two 1.8mm barbs on our boundary due to heavy animal in pact.
I'm not sure if your block is coastal but if so go for split timber and droppers.
We are inland so marginally less rust prone so we use a combination of steel and timber here.
