Unhappy What is this World Coming to??

Got a phone call today from the captain of the Portland NSW SES unit

Sometime between 8pm Monday night, and Early this morning, someone(s) has broken into our Unit, and stolen an estimated $30 000 worth of equipment, including the entire stock of chainsaws, jerry cans full of fuel, pumps and generators, Keys to both vehicles, torches, handheld communication equipment, even the units soft drinks, tea coffee milo and cream biscuits,

Our Unit is now inactive until we can have locks and ignition barrels replaced along with our chainsaws and roof kits...

I ask you, What is the world coming to??

    Now that is very low
Who could even think of doing something like that to an organisation like the SES
I hope they are in a situation right now where they need the SES

Personally I think we should bring back the Cat 'O' Ninetails....half a dozen stripes as an introduction for first offence, will certainly make ya think twice before walking off with someone else's property, the second time.....and Yep I am quite prepared to swing the lady to make'em dance.

Saw a minor drug pusher get 24 strikes across his buttocks with the rattan cane in malaysia and I can vitually guarantee he did not re-offend, cos the next time he was going to get triple.

yeah but if they do you can never get fingerprints!!! well I suppose they already have them --in a box somewhere!..

When I was at andamooka our 'shed' (joint ses/cfs/mine rescue) got broken into and a heap of gear taken including radios...we're pretty sure it was some scummys from interstate passing thru...

only consolation was, we finally got up to date equipment to replace the gear gone... we werent tagged inactive though as what we lost was bits from everything mainly not 1/2 the bloody shed!

Hope your gear was engraved like ours..makes it hard to sell and easy to ID

keep plugging... (now you have time to practise those alpine butterfly knots!)

    cheers
