Don't confuse putting across a perspective as being aggro or bitter. Your making an assumption, whereas in fact I am happily munching on cheese and toast. Now if I were to mention unions, the down trodden or governments, there would be a whole dialogue from yourself forthwith ....horses for courses when it comes to subject matter,

Apparently the prices for the D4 will be confirmed soon but... the V6 SE has been dropped and the SE will only be available in the 3.0 TDV6 at approx $91k

The 2.7TDV6 S will be around $70-80k mark.

That means the Discovery has gotten 10 - 15k more expensive.
I expected as much. That rules our a D4 for me, unless its an S with the TR option.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine posting a review of a new LR could be so divisive.

I'll have to watch what I post next time.

Live and let live guys and gals. We don't all have to love the same shapes and styles to be Land Rover afficionados

I think we will find the wheel sizes will be around 20" or more, maybe 19
    on the base model.

With the capability of the new D4 offroad, I dont think oversize tyres would be warranted.
With the new AT tyres now in these sizes, it will be even better offroad
because of the extra strength these tyres will provide.

The new AT tyres are also made to fit the late model RR and Sport.
Would have to be much better than running road tyres on the outback roads.
Travelling from Maree to the Alice I know what I would rather be wearing.
    Cheers.

For the record the disco has the ''boxy'' shape for a reason, room. It has won alot of awards because you can seat adults into it comfortably with lots of leg, head and shoulder room were as the cruiser, even though it is bigger struggles to fit adults in the middle seats if the front are back and the third row are for people with no legs and are as comfy as a milk crate with a towl on it.In the end everything is a compromise and LR have done the best job out of all the makers, hence the most awards. As I have said before, I reckon the Disco 3/4 shape is all class. A really distinctive, attractive shape shape that will be recognised by posterity as being a work of art - just as the Rangie Classic was.

But it is also a very efficient shape, as someone else has pointed out. It is a car the designers sat down and asked all the right questions and got some first rate answers.

I am just waiting till the time comes when I can afford one. It is one of those cars that just clicked the first time I saw it. It all adds up, every box is ticked, etc.

May well be ... but I know someone who's looking at buying a new four wheel drive, & has specifically said he won't buy the D4 because it is "ugly" to look at & too boxy. So his opinion is relevant to an extent, to an extent that the shape of the vehicle puts some people off buying it.

So hooray for having an opinion.....its relevance to the topic is nil. Yes...why don't we all knock our marque when something good is said about it? For sure be critical if warranted...but knock it for knockings sake?

As to logic....well opinions are easily torn to shreds...factual information is a lot harder to refute. In terms of the statement "being ugly"....that is an opinion. Being the top rated 4WD around the world, winning countless awards and people spending upwards of $60k-$100k + would confirm that the opinion of it being a great looking car along with other aspects...would be correct.

So yes we all have opinions yada yada........ what I fail to see is the point of innocuous statements such as that...in a positive article about an LR...one may as well go buy a Toyota or Nissan as they seem to revel in putting things down,
