That's what's absurd, if you were "B" you can be in-front of the "A" car except for your rear bumper bar and the "A" car has right of way.
If a collision happens (which did happen to me recently, when a car hit the RHS rear corner of my car trailer) the "B" car is in the wrong. In this case a car driver that was 25 feet behind me had the right of way and I was in the wrong.![]()

I had this problem in my 2a going from the coast up Brown Mountain. People just had to get past before the mountain, then I would maintain my speed and easley pass them on the overtaking lanes, the look on their faces as an old Landy effortsly cruses by.
What they dident factor in and could not see was the Holden 202 under the bonnet or the overdrive box.
But seriously people seem to see old 4x4 and just have to get in front then slow down, this used to get on my goat but now it does not bother me, more fools are they , better things to ocupie my mind than dick heads.
Cheers
Rob
May be Land Rover would make more sales if they dis put 4x4 badges on them.
Ever notice that some are not content unless they also have after market spare wheel covers that say 4x4 and also fit mud flaps that say 4x4, just to make sure every one knows.
Makes them feel better as they overtake you.![]()
If I was A in the diagram above and a long truck B was signalling to come in from a lane that was about to end I would let him in cause the alternative is I reckon he probably couldn't stop in time to avoid crashing if he had to stay in the outside lane as it ends, so he's gonna come over anyway and assume the car will bounce off the back and that's better for him than crashing and possibly rolling the truck. Looking ahead means thinking about overall safety, not just who has the legal right.
I think we are missing the true reason why people speed up and pass Land Rovers - and all big vehicles for that matter. VISION.
They can't see, and anticipate the traffic, behind a Land Rover and so they have to drop back to a safe braking distance.
Then another vehicle will drop in and they move back one.
THen he drops back and another drops in. etc etc
Most people sit too close in traffic just to "Hold" their position in the traffic. (It's a city thing)
Behind a 4wd they can't do this so they race up to get in front.
I drive 100km across Melbourne every day and cop it all the time.
My solution is to ignore them and listen to my Ipod.
I also think this is why most little car driver want 4wd's banned.
It is the thin of the wedge.
Once they ban 4WD, then it'll be white vans, then people movers, trucks will be restricted to off peak night time and on and on.
Its a HS* and the pedestrian council type of thing. They have a list of 10 things they want and push for them, when they achieve one, another "want" appears at the end of the list. It will never end until all transport is public and private transport is a thing of the ancients.
Keep listening to your iPod and ignore the idiots I say.

Ok,,,,how many lanes does it take to merg onto 3 laned Hwy from a service lane, if your in a small car,, ie :-Festiva (or similar)
I always assumed that it would only be 1,,, (but of course we all know the saying,, "assumed makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me" ") However, I discovered today,, alas,, I was wrong,, very wrong
Apparently, you need all 3 lanes,, all empty,, in order to move into the nearest lane to you,, and thats only after everyone has moved down the road about 500mts,,,![]()
This was despite having several chances to move out because a few very curtious (spelling?) people actually moved over lanes to let us in,,
Times like this I wish I'd taken my mates truck horn he offered me,,,
And when they did move out,,,50k speed,,,was tempted to give her a big push,,,
If people are that scared to drive in cities and traffic,,then catch a cab,,
