    New LRA 4" Kit...... sweet

    Hey guys i was out at LRA the other week speaking to the guys there about various things and stumbled across the new 4" kit they currently have in engineering for the D2's.

    Apparently it gets around the issues associated with bodylifts on D2's and will be a completely engineerable kit.

    Extract taken from the LRA site...

    Full 4" Engineered kit. Discovery Series 2 has been an issue to be able to raise them with the purpose to fit larger tyres legally until now. With many discussions with vehicle engineers we are developing a kit to lower the whole suspension system 50mm. The kit will include, front and rear bump stop droppers, front and rear spring spacers 50mm, SLS spacer and sensor arm modifications, WATTS link modified arms and caster correction. This kit will be ale to be engineered in Australia. This kit is to simulate what we do with earlier vehicles with a Body Lift Kit. By modifying the suspension we have been able to get around all the SRS limitations. Once this kit has been installed it will be possible to fit larger tyres.. "4-8 weeks away depending on our engineer and testing."

    Anyone else looking at one of these i'm almost certain i'll get one of the kits and i'm pumped to see what it's like.

    shame we cant fit it to srs D1's

    Sounds like a regular D2 4" lift, with the one difference being that they use 2" springs with 2" spacer blocks. Seems silly to me, especially with the front suspension. If they were spacing the suspension down, then the major aspect they don't seem to be doing is the radius arm / chassis mounts.

    I am interested however to see how they do their castor correction - bushes I suspect.

    I have seen this kit, not sure about the spacers though and the fact that they were very clear (to me)that 1.5 over bumpstop was the max for a D2 regardless of how it was done.

    Hi Slunnie

    They have made a heap of bracketry to keep all of the original suspension conponents to replicate the factory geometry. You're right though they only use 2" springs but no spacer blocks.

    Does that mean that they space the radius arms down off the chassis, and if they did then that would mean that they wouldn't need to do do castor correction???????????????. The anti-squat and steer that comes from the axle will be unchanged also between a 4" lift and what they have done.

    If they use 2" springs then they need to either space the mounts, space the springs or cut and reweld the mounts into a new spot... which effectively not a lot different to running 4" springs.

    It all just seems like a waste to me.
