Let us know what you find. I base that on Andrew e and I trying to fit a P38 into Rover and it wouldn't go, the dia of the P38 assembly (not crownwheel) was slightly too large for the hole in the axle and the CW slot was also not in the correct spot. I'm pretty sure the bolts lines up though, and I think Tusker temperarily ran a Rover front in his rear but they were also 4.1's... but I've personally never directly tried to fit a Rover diff into P38 housing.
Hi Justin,
Just rang LDS up in Sydney, and they quoted me $1000 + GST each for both the front and the rear axles.
The bloke I spoke to didn't know a lot about Defenders, but gave me a quote straight up from his reference manual for a 2002 130. I did have to say "not the Salisbury" (which was $1140 +GST)
Would I be aprehensive to think that he will ship me something that's not going to fit my 130? You seem to be pretty sure that it's a P38 diff, whereas he was referring to it as a Rover diff.
Tks
David
That price is pretty high, but probably the best you will get here
About a year or so ago, some of the guys here bought some direct from the states, worked out about $680-700 from memory. I think the Aussie dollar is about the same as then at the moment. Might be worth looking into, you could save a couple of hundred bucks.
Cheers

Yep - just investigating RoverTracks from the USA. Bloke called Keith.
Seems to be where the other guys imported their stuff from.
Yep, that would be them, I could not remember the name. I will be looking at buying a salisbury true trac in the near future, might be cheaper to arrange a small group buy! I might speak to keith too.
Cheers
Paul
Thanks Justin, Since speaking to them, I have discovered this page at Ashcrofts Transmissions: Ashcroft Transmissions
which explains that p38 Diffs need to have a spacer ring (which I didn't realise, and LDS didn't mention) 2nd to last picture on the page:
P38 Spacer Ring £ 28 Spacer ring used when fitting the Detroit Locker or Truetrac to either the P38 Range Rover or the late 110 rear non Salisbury axle,
I don't know how far you'll get with LDS as they didn't seem clued up on Landies at all!
There's no hurry, I am just getting organised, so leave it until you are quiet, or will that never happen??
