Thread: hand held radar!!!

Calibration.Unsure about the new laser radars,but the older Dopler units are calibrated with a tuning fork,its struck with the supplied hammer the radar guns measure the frequency given off.I know this because I once tried getting off a ticket.
Hi Vis clothing.Unsure if its compulsory,but you wont see them in time if you are speeding,they boys do a sterling job in town writing tickets for those that cant do 50kmh.Even their pair of "candy cars" (brightly painted XR6 Turbo Highway Patrol cars) arent bright enough for errant motorists to spot.

Bit of a thing in SA a while ago about radar stuff and calibration.... it seems the police do their own calibration

But how often was never made clear. But I don't think it was on a fixed and regular basis. Basically up to the SA police if and when they got checked.

Anybody noticed that the Google spiders put links at the top left of the page that match our threads,just saw this one at the top of the page whilst reading replies on this thread.

Driving a landrover fortunatly means that tickets are not a great problem my issue is that bending the rules, which means that if the ticket is fought in court it is withdrawn but at huge cost to the defendant when the ticket should never have been issued.
please have your say. and if you know where i can get hold of the rules please pass them on so that time and money can be saved and genuine idiots do not get off in court and flawnt the rules making our police look bad and tie up our court system

if you were speeding, then pay the fine and get on with life. If not, protest your innocence and front the SM, ask for a hearing date and see how you go. If you contest the ticket, you will be supplied a brief of evidence from the QPS with all the certificates and lawful authorities required to substantiate such a charge.

Have not been nicked for a long time and never in a landrover..lol, however ride a 1200 motorcycle with grin and gusto. my gripe is that tickets need to be issued legitimatly or we waste tax payers money(job for polititians) . i want to see things that make a difference done by our hardworking boys in blue. brisbane now has 40 speed limit in cbd to try and protect morons who are too dumb to look before crossing the road, or more specificly to protect drunks ....hello it is against the law to be drunk in public not to mention stupid to out of control in an unfamiliar enviroment, arrest the drunks not the the car drivers. put em all in a cage overnight and fine em 130 bucks lets see how many reoffend!

I'm not too sure of the exact details but I believe it is alleged that all speeding fines are served unlawfully as per the provisions of s92 of the Constitution.

Of course, since we'd all have a copy of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia in our homes, you can see it's a classic Dennis Denuto moment:

The 40k speed limit isnt just for the drunks, its to protect the dumb office workers who dont understand that when the light turns to red, you cant cross the road. Extremely hard concept to understand isnt it. They even get a bit uppity when try to nudge them with the bullbar.

Im in favour of low speed limits where they are needed.
Our town is on Albany Hwy.People just dont slow down whilst travelling thru town.
One of the boys in blue was giving my son a go of his radar gun a few years back,he locked onto a young bloke doing 130 in a 50 zone.Yep my boy loved it,and the hoon went down for it,only because he confessed when seeing the reading on the gun.Officer came back and told me the story after chasing him up the Hwy, and said they may get us as witnesses but unlikely as the tool confessed.
