Geez, I had to google what Merrel's were :o
Another good place to look for 'country' clothes is a good saddlery. That's often where we buy our jeans, hats, boots, etc.
Peeling roos and other sundry wildlife from the vehicle and just off the road so no one else hits the carcass you generally want working clothes, it can get messy. ;)
my advice, if your going when its hot take something light with a high UV rating. if its going to be cold take something warm. and if its going to be wet don't go, looking for sticks rocks etc to get you out of the mud in the rain sucks. other wise look for comfortable cheap stuff (been a truckie for a wile and comfort helps the k's fly by), after all if your outback the roo's wont give a stuff what your wearing. :D
I have images of rounding a bend to see a badly dented vehicle, a splattered roo and the driver picking up pieces of flesh whilst donning a sperm suit.
I cannot understand the concept of paying $200 for 1 shirt, just one curry stain and it's still an oil rag.
If you want to look like a concrete cowboy, as Rick says go to your local Horseland and pay plenty of coin for the same quality stuff you can get at K mart at a 500% markup.
If your Outback travelling you have all your life in your vehicle, therefore you have to travel light, more so in a duel cab Defer due to the fact the "usable" space is a lot smaller than that available in a normal 110. After a few days of roughing it a $200 shirts or a $30 shirt will still smell like death, if you have enough water to launder it fine, otherwise turf it in a biohazard bin and go buy another. 6x throw away clothes = 1 $200 shirt;)
Yes I'm a stinking tight assed pom
RM Williams, now are they taking the P****? well expensive stuff, GIORGIO ARMANI is cheaper than that........ Pair of Land Rover overalls might do the trick....
