I did exactly the same thing some years back when it was still 30kph over that did the trick. I got done for 31 over, lost my licence for a month.
Turned out to be a great thing, I got into mountain biking, lost a bunch of weight just in time for my bro's wedding, even did a beginner's triathlon. Of course I've stacked it all back on and then some now, but it really was good for me!
