From boxhill you can go north to eltham, Kangaroo ground, warrandyte, hurstbridge, wattleglen, st andrews, panton hill. Or go east to lilydale, yarraglen, coldstream, dixons creek - it really depends on your wallet.
I may have the oportunity to get work down in Melbourne, at box hill. Does anyone know how far it is from there to rural living and what sort of cost the land there is?
My only recollection of Melbourne is the Esplanard hotel in St Kilda, from about 25 years ago

Hmmm Box Hill - Rural Living.... OK rural as in how isolated?
From BH to somewhere like Warrandyte is maybe 30 mins, to somewhere like St Andrews - 40 but true rural (what I'd call rural) is probably further out - like Yea and that would be 1hr plus. As for land - no idea.(times are rough Peak Period travel times).
I suppose the 'rural' aspect is what you may need to compromise on - either less travel and live closer or more travel and have 'country life'.
Being on the west of the yarrathe best side
maybe the 'eastern burbs' peoples will add there opinions and be able to give more accurate distances
I meant to add it depends on how rural you want, for acreage you'll want to go to at least kangaroo ground or yarraglen and out.

Box Hill is suburbia .... good for Asian food though
Is it still a dry area ?
Box hill is not to bad these days. Still dry meaning BYO for restaurants only.
Living rural and working in box hill would mean you will be spending a fair bit of time in your car. I like the idea of rural living but can't deal with the traffic situation when getting to work.

I'm in Blackburn south and thinking on doing the move to further out.
Biggest thing is cost and travel to/from work. They area has great schools and lots of nice open space for kids/pets.... if you have either.
Boxhill area is nice to live in..... so am torn between moving and staying.
If you want to chat or have a look around just PM me and we can hook up.
