O-what great memories, OHS whold have a field day with those over loaded vehicles.....
Even the old Bedford tanker.....what a machine, could see the vaporising fuel problems already.

In the truck sales industry they were almost universally regarded as Australian Army Cab Over, and Australian Civilian Cab Over. Both acronyms were pronounced as Akk-owe. Differentiation was high doors and/or split windscreen. The next model was called "new cab Acco" in the sales yards.Quote:

We were doing a huge back burn - and can remember we had brought over 20-30 appliances over from SA (fairly flash fire appliances in there days).......well getting back to the story half way along the back burn we came across an old ex army 6x6 fire truck (it even had the old lay done front windscreen) - and we were shocked as it still was an active fire appliance.
We have a policy in SA - no active front line fire appliance is to exceed 20 years old, there is a a few exception after 20 years some are coverted to bulk water tankers.
Well since 1994 - theres not many years we havent headed interstate, but with the way things are going in SA you might have to help us this year.
