Try a smearing a bit of chilli paste around the stack, they soon get the message that the fat they are trying to get to is not quite what they expected

Anyone that shoots Kooka's should be shot themselves .

OP, what about training them to sit elsewhere, put some mince or sausage on a nearby tree branch or even some kind of perch ?

I've never shot one but they're not native here in Tasmania. They have been introduced.
Are you suggesting that feral species should be protected when they compete with the local native species? Or do you mean they should be poisoned or gassed rather than shot?

I will swap them for some foxes and rabbits I don't want

We have a large native population of Kookaburras on our place and they are never a problem.

Whenever I dig holes or chop wood they must be able to smell the bugs, invite all their mates and gather around for a feed. Harmless.

There might be lizards or something living in the vent that they're after.

They are hardly a pest like cockies or galah's, how can a species that is free to fly across the country not a native animal ?
