Cheap stuff from Uk while pound is low

So who is taking advantage of the low pound to buy stuff from the uk for your landies.

I hit Mud Stuff up for a few bits.
I have a Mud Stuff tunnel tray coming from them and cost me $102 delivered ( paid though Paypal where you don't get the best rate anyway)

Don't forget to get them to take the 15% VAT of the price as we don't have to pay that .

I have banged on about this previously... but the timeliness of this thread and an experience earlier today just reinforced to me the gouging going on by most of the LR parts suppliers in Oz... Was a simple request... 4 hub seals FTC5209, 2 drive shaft seals (FTC 4822) and 4 drive shaft nuts (CDU 1534L).

All parts are common to Freelander, P38 and certain Discos.

total cost, delivered from Britparts UK A$52 plus $20 for delivery.

So even if it was another $40 from the local LR Dealer (ex stock) would have been worth it timewise. But no.. usual story... have to get them from Melbourne and total cost (drum roll....) A$300.13 incl GST

Parts bloke then added that he had some of the parts .."...on the shelf" ... I politely suggested that at those prices they would probably be there for a while yet He then added "helpfully" that the price of similar parts for the RR 2003 onwards were twice those just quoted As I don't own a late model RR it's somewhat irrelevant

So short answer: YES ...take advantage of the A$/GBP exch while you can!

PS Britparts are "excellent" for being on the ball re VAT etc

    Bonnet Pod

I was planning to partake of the conversion rate.
Saw some cool bonnet pod for the D2. 4 x 55W spotties. something different. dont see too many out here.
    150 quid.
think 300 bucks.......... I can go that...........bit of a joke. Fit NSW Gov hoon model.

Came in white. Got white D2. Lovely.
    Send off quote.
    Guess what the postage was?
    120 Quid. Another 240 bucks.

I work in and around the postal system, not directly but close enough to know thats a bit of a joke.

300 dollar part and 250 dollars to get it here. Im all for a good exchange and a bit of a laugh but 550 dollars for a bit of a joke isnt so amusing anymore.

looks like no bonnet pod for this disco

Glad to see you are in relatively more stable environment !

Am reading David Kilcullen's book "The Accidental Guerilla" ... fascinating stuff...and quite logical ... should be compulsory for the pollies

Re. the paycheck.... It's still 2 xA$ = 1GBP so if you don't have a lot of opportunity to spend it...then you're OK!!
    cheers

I'm hoping it stays up there for a few weeks until I get home. I need new rear springs and 4 new shocks on the Puma to start with and was thinking of putting in helper springs in the rear like the 110 wagon and 130 have. Be a lot cheaper from UK I suspect.

Just did a comparison - a clutch master and slave cylinder for a series II sells for around $90 here....from Paddocks it converts to $34 (exclusive of VAT) and then add freight to that, whatever that may be...
