If you had young kids I'd say Morton Island. Much safer for them. Three weeks may be a bit long as you can cover all of Morton in a Day:angel: Unless you like Fishing and a few quiet beers. Morton is very easy to drive on and has no water crossings unless you do a high tide run:eek: or play in the small inland ponds.:D

I would give Stradie the miss,to built up,& all the inland tracks that were fun have been closed for a while.
Moreton is great as already said.You can camp most areas along the Eastern beach which is great,there are heaps of sites to choose from,some with amenities ,although with kids,you will have to watch the traffic.A better place may be up the top around Yellow patch,i think its called.
Fraser isnt too bad either,although it is a lot bigger therefore you seem to spend a lot of time driving.Campsites are in many areas,depends whether you want to be near the sea,or inland in the rainforest.Natonal parks website is the go to have a browse on.Fraser beaches are very busy,so littlies have to be watched all the time.
Driving on the beaches is pretty easy,common sense is the go,keep tyre pressures low,watch the tide times & creek crossings,which are all shallow,& you will be OK.
Other vehicles are the main danger,as are washouts

Yellow patch is the best spot I reckon. If theres a stiff south easter blowing, you are protected and its pretty safe for the kids to swim.
I havent been there since they regulated the camping so not sure what the sites are like but am pretty sure they have put in a toilet block there.
If you have Ozi explorer I can email you some maps of Fraser and Moreton.
They have closed the Servo, but have heard that the shop at Bulwer has started selling 20l jerry cans of fuel, but best to take your own.
If you have trouble getting on a barge, contact Stradbroke ferries as I have heard that they have started taking the Combie Trader over to Kooringal.
I'd get in quick to book if I was you because due to to regulation of camping areas there's less spots on the island.

How long at each do you reckon?
We love to go to North Straddie - out on Main beach, 20k south of causeway! It gets REALLY quiet there out of season, and even in season you can generally find a good camp spot away from people. It's raw camping, dig a hole kind of stuff, but you can explore the inland tracks a bit etc. Also amenities like Ice and supplies at Dunwich if you need! A coffee is only a half hour beach drive away at Pt Lookout but far enough to keep the yobbos off your patch!
Fraser is a real expedition, if you are planning on just setting up and chilling out it's a bit of a waste. Same sort of thing can be done on Moreton or Nth Strad, just sitting behind the dunes and enjoying the amazing beaches as we do.
if you are OK With leaving your campsite then you can do some great driving and exploring on Fraser. Need at least Seven days. it would be my choice for a combo of Adventure plus relax behind the dunes. It is massive though so be ready for that!
Beach traffic on all the Islands is an issue. You can't hear cars coming, there are a lot of ****heads who speed so keep a very close eye on kids.
Downey street lubratorium at Geebung is where we get ours washed dwon afterwards if we don't have time to do it ourselves.
You can't really go wrong whatever you choose! It's the best thing about Brissie (Getting the hell out of there)!
