    Just a few questions...

    Hello there,

I am sure if you searched for this phrase, numerous threads would appear. Long time fan, first time caller!!!!

Getting the family organized for a trip around OZ, with camper trailer in tow. We are a young family, 34,31,4, 1 and the dog. Kids will be in child car seats.Just wondering if the forum could enlighten me a little. We will be doing a resonable amount of offroading, and want a car that, if we want to see a remote place, we can!!

Looking at a Defender 110 late 2006 wagon. A few spec's below to see if car may be suitable.
    1. 60,000 km diesel
    2. Never offroad.
    3. Bullbar, Lightforce lights, snorkel, towbar, winch, AT's and regularly serviced by recommened people.
    4. $35,000 sound fare..
    5. Includes electric windows, traction, ABS and romote central locking. All of these items are standard, but I thought electric windows and central locking came on the Oct 2007 model.

My questions are, comfort for the drive, reliability and ease of parts, servicing costs, interior noise levels, economy towing 850kg Tambo camper, and value for money. I also have limited knowledge of repairs.

Any thoughts would be well received.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Comfort? I like more the Defe than the Disco, the RR? well diferent league
    Payload? the best
    Noise? 3 out of 10
Economy? the best big 4x4 by far
Value for money? Defenders keep the value very well
Knowledge of repairs? you will learn very quick and here you have the support

For me the Defender is the best expedition vehicle

Do Defenders have the mounting points for child seats? I thought that they did not have them standard.

    Hi,
My defender 110 2001 has a bar across the back behind the rear seats with childs restraints. am about to do a trip down east coast oz to vic. long range tank, have got loads of insulation to reduce noise, as they are very loud, custom seats makes for a comfy trip. off road awesome.
let me know if u want to check it out . or i can send pics

850kgs its hardly going to notice on road.

seat mount for childrens seats are not standard on any of the sheds but can be retrofitted.

3 styles available the flat bar that goes from sponson to sponson and the tower type. Ive never seen the 3rd one but allegedly its a floor mount which I dont reccomend based on the difficulty of getting to the mounting point when your loaded up and the potential to damage it or the straps when your loaded up

Sounds ideal to me. That would be the spec I would be after if I was buying one.

Central locking and so on was available from a lot earlier than 2007...

just learn how to service it yourself that would be a saving and increase your knowledge unless you are under warranty obligations in which case just keep paying the landy agent to keep it ship shape
