Also Liberal National Party's transport spokeswoman Fiona Simpson in State Parliament yesterday, also called for higher registration fees for four-wheel drives, unless they are used for industry or on farms

I guess that means there are 20,000 people in QLD that don't have enough to worry about. Life must be pretty good if that's taking up politicians time. Obviously all the other stuff like crime, health and the economy must be sorted!!!

    Let them.

About 10 or 12 years ago, a shopping complex on the Northern Beaches of Sydney put a ban on 4x4s using their car park.

Two weeks later, after most shops suffered huge drops in turnover, the ban was lifted.

And banning them from school zones, I would love to see them police that one when they can’t stop ANY vehicle from speeding through the 40 KPH school zones now.

This is like that scum bag jurno in Sydney, who a few years back wanted to ban 4x4s because over a two or five ( what ever ) year period, 22 infants had been killed.

What he conveniently neglected to point out was that only 3 of the deaths were caused by 4x4s and most were actually caused by family sedans and station wagons.

No political party in their right mind will touch this one, BUT, this is being proposed in Queensland and I don’t think we have too many politicians that you could consider as being all that intelligent.

It also shows that there are at least 20,000 that are suffering from small dick/tit syndrome.

These things get to me, and unfortunatley appeal to the masses. What irritates me is they ALWAYS say that a 4x4 has a greater "enviroment" foot print and use more fuel than cars, which is not true.

    Thumbs down Stupid discrimination

From a State that has such a high percentage of interstate visitors in 4WD's, outback and FNQ, this is such a stupid discriminatory ideal. a A 4WD can be taken as everything from a Suzuki Jimny/Sierra through to a Hummer.
Are we then going to ban Mum's picking up their little darlings in people movers/minivans(US) as they also are larger vehicles with poor visibility.
The majority of our brand of 4WD, (I own a Disco2), are alot safer than most "normal" family cars, and similar, if not better, economy than lot of larger family sedans.
Maybe it is time that ALL 4WD owners spoke up, surely we can find more than 20000 voices.

    "I HAVE A 4WD, I USE IT, AND I VOTE!!!"

    Double standards.....

More ridciulous **** from our politions. Never mind our budget is in a deeper void than the cavaity inside most politions' heads, that our health system is failing left right and centre with too many buracrats and not enought doctors and nurses and our roads are in such a state that a 4WD is needed just to get to work!

Anyhow I saw this on Brisbane Times's website... double standards much...

This is the website of Fiona Simpson who raised the petition in parliament...

I suggest you all send a short message to her showing your opposition to this crap.
