I drilled a fine hole across the head of the sump plug on the BM and use a bit of wire as a security against it unscrewing.
Can't carry much spare oil on a bike.
cheers

......at least you didn't loose it on a long trip and suffer worse...but the mechanic didn't know that so y is it hes fault it wasn't done up proper.......:wasntme:...wonders will never cease ...
Yea, annoyed, but keep in mind everyone makes mistakes, its what happens next that shows what kind of person/company they are... if its apologetic and replacement of all costs incureed and maybe some sort of freeby, then its not to bad:)
Exactly, they have always been good to me in the past (although I have given them a LOT of the hard earned over the years ;)) so I didn't go off on the phone, just said what had happened for the record, we'll see what happens next.
All seems good, filled up the oil and it runs fine, so I think all concerned were lucky.
Interesting about liability though. It has done 205,000km, if the motor had been cooked would they have been required to provide a new motor or one of a similar mileage. Given that I know the history of mine I wouldn't want a second hand one.
Tony you really need to stop running chinamen over asap.
You were VERY lucky to get away with 1.5km with no sump plug!!!!
Does your oil light work???
Mine never has despite checking wiring and replacing senders and the checking dash.
