    Service Darwin

    Hi All

Arrived in Darwin after 4 months in Alice Springs.

Does anyone know of a reliable mechanic for a 2000 Disco

    Gday Greg,
I cant recommend any 1 person, but book the car into Darwin Mitsubishi well in advance if you want the dealership to do work, there is generally 2-3 week wait list.
For just service, buy a full set of filters off E-bay or similar as filters in Darwin are morgage the house stuff prices and take the car and filters to someone like Ultra tune, if you check you can even take your own oil.
I have a 2001 disco, thats my best advice.
Also Supercheap will be your cheapest in town for filters, have been quoted $95 from repco for fuel filter.Would pay to source a set of filters, belts and any hoses you need from south and just have them there.
    Cheers Ean

If you buy your own oil, track down the Castrol Distributor in Darwin (don't know who it is) and buy it there, you'll get it a lot cheaper than from anyone else.

The Castrol Distributor is AFD, they have a fuel depot in berrimah, they are the main distributor for just about all brands now, we get our Caltex oil thru them. They are also mainly BP but I get my castrol refridge oil thru them, they have it all except for Shell.

I use Prompt Auto at Coconut Grove. Not cheap but I've been very happy with their work.

    Careful ...

I know everyone can have a bad day but I drove all the way home from Darwin (towing a caravan and with my family) and found my oil pressure relief valve installed backwards... after it spat oil over the road... twice. Work done by Prompt auto... repaired free by my REPCO man...
