I didn't note the VIN after looking at the link last night but I would think the conversion was done because the Td5 wasn't sold in America IIRC.
I know LR stopped selling diesels for a while over there & I think they came back with the LR3 (D3 to us).
If someone can let me know the VIN, I'll double check to see what it started life as.
Our's isn't even turbo'd it's still fun to drive though:D

I only have one experience with a 4BD1T and that was Bearmans County, while on our Cape trip we stayed overnight at his place and he kindly took us for a drive around the area, I was pleasenly supprised how smooth and quiet his County was.
I would certainly be interested in how the conversion was done, to me it would be the perfect D2 if done properly.

I sort of agree with slunnie on this one, i have only ever driven a county with the 4bd1 which i thought was awesome and although that D2 has a very neat conversion i really dont think it is suited to the vehicle- sure as a trail rig it would be great but as a daily driver i reckon body/ chassis cracks with show after a period.
Can't understand why the Isuzu owners get so upset when someone criticises them.
...or D2 owners when you mention oil pump bolts or oily harnesses.
...or P38a owners when you mention EAS.
...or bloodbox owners when you mention campervans. :wasntme:

Im not so sure about that. Plenty of people on here get offended if any model of landie or engine type is criticised. Just look at the threads about TD5 reliability...Quote:

As for owners getting upset...I DO!! I will admit it, I get annoyed when people slag the Puma as I dont feel they have given it a chance and are quick to put it down even if they have never owned one or have driven one on a test drive for 10mns and not in real life situations..or as a daily driver. I can understand anyone getting upset and defending there model......And I especially feel sorry for the freelander owners....
they come on here and say I bought one and most people first reaction is to go out in sympathy:D...no one should be made to feel bad because of their choice of model, after all just because it doesn't suit your life style why does it mean that it automatically qualifys to not suit anyone else's

Fair call. But there are plenty of multiple page threads loaded with eng./sci data from several of the forums engineers endlessly trying to argue why the isuzu motor is superior than anything else.
One such thread completely ridiculed a persons preference for v8 petrol engines.
