I even noted the Tex-Magnalite blinker switch as I looked at the pics, and still typed "III"! The brain was thinking one thing, the hands doing another.
Indeed, it is a late 2A.

Numpty...
...you're a Numpty. :D
:D:D Thankyou very much...........I think.
G'day All, I agree, it's a late model S2A Marshall bodied L/rover lhd, it is not a Defender full stop!!!, and as to the claim it served in the Falklands war well the Brits did all that fighting, the Dutch were not involved at all, so if it is indeed a ex-dutch army thats where it served it's time not down Sth in the Falklands cheers Dennis:angel:
ps I wouldn't think that the Poms were still supplying this model to the dutch, the Falklands war was in 1982.
so wheres his AURLO log in?....
interestnig setup.
as per normal, if hes coming out this way I'm happy to lay on spanners if he needs it.
Although they could have sold it second hand much in the way the Kiwis purchased the Skippys - although it's being LHD makes one wonder.
Unless once again during the re-build it was converted.
(There are a lot of LR chassis that are ambidexterous. The 1948 models, one ton models and the series forward controls all have both tubes for the RHD and LHD steering relays.)

"2.2+ motor petrol I think"
If that means a 2.2 litre petrol motor driving all that stuff I hope they're not in a hurry!

Hi All
Just read some of the responses / queries.
I only have comments made by Eric last Monday night.
Eric and his girlfriend are planning to tour for 12 months.
Not sure how long they will be on Fraser for.
They would be mad not to hit WA in that time.
He claimed the vehicle weighed 3.2 ton. I guess that was loaded. The motor seemed very small for the application. (We saw fully loaded D1 diesels struggling on the Simpson Desert) Eric claimed he hit a top speed of 119 Km/hr on a German autobahn.
