Thanks for that, it just proves what I am trying to say. A public road is NO place for a push bike because you have NO protection when some drunk/drugged/fool in a car decides he has more right to your couple of square centremetres of road than you!!!!:bat:Quote:

There is an offence of unreasonable obstruction, and in that example it would be upheld.
I think it's great that people can commute by cycle and it's great they're keeping fit, but there's a time and place and unfortunately the roads and routes are not designed for cyclists - cycling is still considered by the RTA etc as a recreational pursuit, not a legitimate means of transport.
So all the us v. them stuff, in the most part it's not appropriate for them to be on the road in peak periods - and for the ones who say, 'well it's my life' - that's rubbish - it's the poor bugger who squashes them, the poor bugger who scrapes them off the road/out of wheel wells, the poor bugger who knocks on the door and tells the rello's and the remaining family. I reckon they're selfish to rely on the 'it's my right' argument.

Sooo...everyone moaning about cyclists, get off your collective bums and please assist getting these troublesome road users off the mainstream roads by lobbying local and state governments to provide bicycle only lanes that are both safe and expediant for the cyclist to use.

Do I lobby for a vintage car lane....not many people would back me on that one.
It's gonna be a long long battle, but at the end of the day people hate sitting in traffic, they hate paying for rego, tolls and parking fines - all the things cyclists don't directly pay for - and cars/bikes have rego plates, so when they take a punt with the rules, they (might) get pinged - more bills. All that frustration can lead to agro directed to..................cyclists?

Go on then, I have worked with Bicycle NSW, am a member of the largest bike club in Sydney which is active in Pr and advocacy, take part in street parades (often on a unicycle:cool: ), and assist with two local council cycleway committees. What are you now going to do?Quote:
