JC another option is to go to an upholsterer and get them to make your original seats the way you want them.It is quite a straight forward job to shape the foam to suit your arse and then recover them, that way you can get them just right. The best part is you can get different density foam for the right comfort and tough cloth, like original Defender seat cloth for long life. I vote for Recaro.
I paid 1K for some second hand XL orthopeadics on Ebay.
My wife who has a slipped disc reckons they are the best thing I have EVER done.
I can drive 800Km in a day no sore back or stiffness.

Recaro Expert or Specialist With the M base, bloody terrific. The M base is the low side one and is easy to get in and out of, it still has the extendable front which if you have a bad back is brilliant as it supports under you knees which takes weight off you lower back.
When enquiring at the local Opposite Lock shop the bloke said you also need an engineer's certificate. The extra cost of that on top of $15-1800 for a seat plus the bases, made the existing seats seem not too bad after all.

A good auto chair fixer can work miricales.
The HZJ 75 Landbruiser ute I steered on the farm had a shocking chair. It needed a recover. It was re-padded and shaped and became one of the most comfy Ive sat in.Who said you cant create a silk purse from a pigs ear?????
MUCH cheaper than new flash chairs and no ADR issues as they are still OME fittment.
Worth getting a price on.
You could go to the chemist and buy one of those cussions for the dangleberry equipped members of society:p:p:p:p:pMay even get you better forward vision:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:
I THINK I MAY BE IN A BIT OF STRIFE NOW.:cool::cool::cool:

.... There are loads of choices .. as most chairs all have rails as a base
So go visit all the dealerships and sit in all the cars you like
Honda / Commydore / Falcon / Fairlane / mitsi / Lexus / Toyoto / Mazda .... find what you like and then visit the local wreckers and just install it .....
:)
Jc, did you ever fit these seats? And if so do you have any pics and did the seat sit any lower (this is what I'm trying to achieve due to being 8ft tall:))?
PhillipA, the same as above ^^^?
FWIW I find the leather D1 seats just about ideal.
The ISRI seats in the 110 penrenties being sold now are also very very good (maybe why the mil oh&s replaced the std 110/deefer seats with them ?)
