Reading all these pro's and con's, I'm sold. I want one.
Bugger the comfort and space in the D2.....you can keep it.
I just LURVE the little 90's.

Fingers crossed the price is right.....

(ps. Taff, I would've paid to see you take that challenge mate, knowing full well you would have creamed it easy!!)

    Cheers,

It's good to see that, as a P38A owner, I'm in the same class of ******* as 90 owners.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the look of the Defender (of all sizes) and I'd have one as a second vehicle if I could justify it (I did have the 110 at the same time as the P38A).

As I noted earlier, I think the 90 would be a fun vehicle in the same way a sports car is - impractical but fun (I also want a Sunbeam Alpine which I'm allowed to have if I get rid of the garden ornament, i.e., the IIA).

First of all they are both enthusiast vehicles and as such you dont really buy them because of their outstanding touring practicality. They are definitely a heart versus head purchase!

Both are great on technically challenging terrain - Dobbo's comments are both insulting and childish - I certainly didn't drive the 90 for any perceived **** value. I admittedly didn't push the envelope in the '90 (altho people who know me know it did get driven) because it belonged to my other half - which is why I ended up with a modded Wrangler as the weekend plaything.

Because they have a less than ideal wheelbase length you do learn to drive the tippy stuff with more respect - but with the right suspension mods you can get great wheel flex and better stability. I would have loved to have gone nuts with that lovely Equipe gear for the '90. Maybe next time
Perhaps occasionally your actions and comments can be perceived as both childish and insulting as well. Lets just say I have never left someone stranded alone on Pole to Pole and gone home after agreeing to drive it. That disgusted me when I heared about it, it was both ungentlemanly and bloody dangerous. Awaiting your reply as well as your shout at the Anna Bay pub for the last 12 months.

I meant the 90, lots of Rangies, Disco's, Bushies and 110's in the comps I've seen. I never said it wasn't better in certain conditions like getting between trees without a 6 point turn, see

"Admittedly there are a few places that a SWB model will get that a LWB won't without a bit of a wiggle about, but 90% of the time it is the opposite scenerio."

I even know a track where most of the rock steps are approx 100 - 110inches apart, it's hell in a LWB, where a SWB does it easily. it's not marketed as a dedicated comp/offroad vehicle, and it's too small to be a practical utility vehicle.

originally my 90 was going to be a tourer for just me and the missus - no kids and more than enough room in the back to carry our gear.
now it's a dedicated comp truck and does the job really well.
hugely more capable than my 110 and might earn me a few $$ should britnet spears ever decide to shoot a vid in WA
seems to me your a bit of a jealous tosser always spoiling for a fight and know jack **** about anything
I'm not jealous, might be a tosser, not spoiling for a fight at all, just typing it how I see it (without the rose coloured glasses). Strangely I have heard the "if I were closer" before, not from you but I have heard it.

Sorry to have offended so many, it was not my intention. I was just giving my honest opinion. Now if you excuse me I'm literally going to make my bed and lie in it. Tis been a long shift.

Dobbo, the reason that almost no one competes in 90's over here is because there are hardly any and they cost a fortune. All other Rovers are either far more available or far cheaper.

ETA, back on the shorty thing, it would seem that Toyota are bringing out a 3dr in the new Prado over here... looks pretty bad:

    Hey Dude,

I wont dignify your pathetic comment with a reply.
Dave knows I stayed with him and drove round to the other side. We went for a beer after.

I owned a 76 swb 88in SIII and would love a 90 with 6 seats, 255/85 and priced at 37-40k to kick the rubicons arse.
On a side note toymotor is bringing the swb prado out next year so there is going to be the potential for a swb war with jeep , toyo and LR all in the same field ( do mitsu still sell pajero swb?) The LR 90 will carry more and have better approach, ramp and dep angles but I bet LR bugger it again and dont include rear seats leaving the empty nesters and young couples who occasionally carry a 3rd or fourth person/ grankid with no choice but to buy a jeep or prado.
