Thread: BOAB storage drawers

Looked at these earlier in the year at the Vic 4WD show. Not a bad setup but I suspect they will rattle. The main thing I disliked was the openness of the design which would allow things to work down between the boxes and frame.

Have had a set in the D2 for about 2 years now. I reckon they're brilliant. Best feature is the ability to quickly unload when I get home - lift the boxes out and store in the shed - keeps the weight down when you don't need to carry everything around with you.

I have found some shallow plastic trays, the bottom dimensions the same as two of the plastic boxes, but the side walls only about 4 inches high. When I take the boxes out, I drop these trays in, and they give that extra bit of carrying space for general everyday stuff, like shopping, visits to the hardware store etc. SWMBO reckons they're great for visits to the gardening stores. Cartons of beer fit in nicely as well.

I've never had an issue with them rattling, but I usually keep the boxes packed reasonably full / tight, and I probably don't get the vehicle bouncing around as much off road as others might either. Offroad for me is more likely to be sand dunes and beaches, and the occasional gravel road.

How do you have them secured in the D2? Do you use turnbuckles / straps etc?

Great that they are the right size for a slab.....
