    Angry Forget Log Books!!!

Ill let Justin explain, but this is the service my father (Chucaro) had done on his Defer 110 Tdi today with completed log books from LR Dealers (yes, thats right, not just one!)

1994 Defender 110 tdi, 111,000k's on the clock...

This is just one of the components removed and replaced

So JC, what other bits were supposedly serviced and hadnt since new???

All we can say is that this is disgusting, more proof that you need a trusting mechanic or if you cant find one learn to be a DIY home mechanic!

It seems to be plain old dirt - and there appears to be quite a bit of it. If the fuel cap is working ok, a bigger question is how did it get there?

The fuel sediment bowl (rear one at tank) was chock full of mud (what you see) and dirt. The dirt was solid... required screw driver to remove. The end result is damaged fuel pump.

However, the log books show service intervals done by dealers and other provate mechanics, so they all must of lied about the work done. Other problems were wheel bearings and hubs, not lubricated since new.

So again, log books arent worth the paper they are printed on, so a lesson for those looking at buying to get the vehicle inspected by a TRUSTED mechanic.

    Hi Guys,

Mum sprung by accident a local dealer.

Scraped the drivers front wheel on a curb, next service she got charged for wheel rotation, guess what, next time she washed it, scraped wheel still on the same spot.

Politely told said dealer where they can stick their "guaranteed servicing" and promptly took the car to another mech, private bloke, good name and so far so good.

They ring once a month to see why the car hasn't been back to them, is now sick of repeating that story and just hangs up now.

Another story I heard from a mate in the biz, car in dealers to have motor replaced under warranty, motor out, car on hoist, to much weight in the back, off she came, now new body needed to go with new motor, doubt the log book would ever have that listed?

Bought myself a 2003 100 series cruiser v8. Done less than 70 thousand kays. All the log books checked out, oil looked good on dipstick, nothing untoward with the car at all. Less than 12 kays from the yard when we picked it up, BANG, one seized 2UZ-FE and one very stuck cruiser. Used dealer sorted it out under used warranty, told us that the oil pickup in the sump had been clogged with crud, as it had possibly never been serviced until they did it, first hill we came to the oil starved and she went pop, no temp warning, no oil light, no nothing.

Like you said stooge, not worth the paper it's written on.
