Well, the dinner last night went off very well - it was at the restaurant in an up market hotel on the south bank. One interesting incident was that during the dinner I was accosted by a gentleman whom I knew fifteen years ago as a business associate - the Maitre d' had just radioed for reinforcements to enforce a "request to leave licenced premises" - he told me later that the gentleman left in a divvy van.

I ended up having to drive home (we were in my daughter-in-law's car) as being a nonb-drinker, I was the only one in a fit state to do so.

By the way, I wonder who it was driving a blue Defender with a roofrack and ladder on the Western Ring Road about 10.30 last night? You would not have noticed me in a very unremarkable white Holden Astra.
