To the best of my knowledge Tojo dual cabs are aftermarket. The first dual cabs were made using the County by the Snowy Rivers Scheme. They were V8's and some are still around.

$$$$ Why pay more for just because it has a toyota badge. Every new generation of toyota is less capable and costs more.

Tell Dad (if he hasnt already) to go with the defender and with the money he saves he can splurge on a camper trailer or a tinnie or some luxary items for the car.

If he goes with troopie he is up for more $ in mods just to get it up to scratch and now that Dads on his own a 130 ute or the 110 hardtop would be even more practicle.

please let us all know which way he goes.

If he's going new don't get a new Troopy. Boss has one of the v8 diesels as a work car & we a constanctly putting oil in it, it leaks worse than a landy & we all know that if a landy isn't leaking there is no oil in it.

Aside from that I agree with rockyroad. When I was looking at a new car I'd rounded it down to a early 2000's Prado or Disco TD5. The Prado's were all around $3-5000 more expensive than the Disco's with same age/simular km's. I can't see this being any different for a Troopy.

I think you'll find that those dual cab County's were special builds for the Bicentennial Authority to tow information vans around. Nothing to do with the Snowy scheme.

I drove a brand new Troopy the other day - even made some notes for a "mini review" and if I can find them some time I'll post them.

    Cheers
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    This is so correct.

Toyota's reputation of reliability and parts availability was built on vehicles of the past. Certainly not the present.

Not to mention the reputation that every bush mechanic could repair it. I doubt the average bush mechanic could do more for a modern Toyota than he/she could do for Land Rover.

They are very much like Tdi's,if you service them properly they go for ages but if you don't give them 5k oil changes and keep right on top of the cooling system it's all over. They have a habit of snapping cranks also. Pat
