Is the SMH trying to tell us something about 90 drivers?
But now the Degender 90, which features shorter overhangs front and rear (for steeper entry and departure angles) than the longer versions that make it a lot more versatile in the bush, will rejoin the line-up.
Or maybe they mean that unlike Ferarris, the 90 will attract everyone.
As was the case with the old 90 price will be killer. The old 90 was dropped because falling sales caused by the high price. Given the expected price I would not have thought the new 90 will be around long so if your interested you had better get in quick.
90 killer wasps is a bit weak.

I'd be interested in hearing the thoughts of those on this forum regarding the rear seats...
I quite like the look of them (up and down), and they appear to be standard - is this the case? Does anybody know what they are like (i.e. are they particularly strong/good quality)?
Cheers, Dave.
I really lke the new 90.
I would like to have one as my daily. I would only add a snorkle and
BFG ATR's and add a cage barrier.
If I bought one, I would remove the rear unneccessary seats and
put them in my old Disco.
Being a 3 door the seats in the Disco fold forward and mine, even tho in
good condition is not comfortable. In fact it's a pain in the bum !!
When the 90 is in the showroom I will check one out.
Cheers.
Theres not alot of price difference between a 90 and 110,as much as i like the 90, and i would have one as a second car, i cant see it appealing to the mass's. If you look at whats out there at the moment, to compaire against, theres only 2, SWB Pajero and SWB Landcruiser. Now the type of people who buy those are a very rare breed indeed, you dont see many around, i think once the Defender becomes more mass produced, then it will fair better against the others, yes it may well end a long history of being a iconic style. but in the real world, things have to change for better or worse, and only time will tell if LR can come up with the goods on the new Defender. Right iam off to buy a 90.... a 1/43 one.....
You see more 3dr Prados and Pajeros on the road than Defender 110/130s...
I am surprised about the niggles over the price.
The 3dr Prado is $56-66k
The 2dr Pajero is $47.5-55k
Admittedly these are both probably more "refined" (i.e. less NVH) and have a larger engine.
The Wrangler 2dr is $35.6k in equivalent spec (diesel manual). However the (petrol only) wrangler rubicon is closer spec to the 90 IMO. The wrangler gets a (badly needed) lift, some bash plates and lockers. The 90 has ETC and doesn't need most of the bash plates due to better clearance. The rubicon is $40.6k.
Also, the price difference between the 90 and 110 of $4k seems about right. The have the same drivetrain, the only difference is about 4' of aluminium, steel, glass and trim. It also seems fairly well in-line with the differences between other 2dr and 4dr models.
However, $8k would buy a lot of upgrades for a diesel 6sp manual wrangler.
I think that if LR sold the 90 in soft top form (a-la the NAS 90) it would do very well with the right advertising/marketing. However I am not sure if the hardtop 90 will do too well 2nd time around.
Mate, If they are bolted to the floor, I could make them fit, and look very professional and safe. Once fitted they would not need to slide.
If the back folds forward, that is all I would need to get the Bird cage into her location directly behind the two front seats in the Disco !! I remove the rear seats for trip travel and fit the cage barrier and stuff. This would become permanent.
In this case I would think that I got the seats for nothing !!
The 90 would become my fun daily driver, come short trip and shopping trolley. What could be a better thingy ? I already have a peaked rag gentlemans cap and I am letting my Indian style mo grow again !!
