All Series 2a Landrovers had the same Rover diff, four, six, or diesel, except that the Salisbury rear diff became available as an option on the 109 in about 1970, and One Ton Landrovers (very rare) fitted with the ENV diff. Many 109 2as however have probably been fitted with Salisbury rear axles that started life in Series 3 Landrovers.
All Rover diffs (not axle housings) from Series 1,2,3 and early Rangerover and 90/110/Defender and some Rover cars are interchangeable, but need to take into account the ratio, which was 4.7 for all Series Landrovers except S3 V8/Isuzu and very early 80", and 3.54 for all early Rangerover, 90/110/Defender, S3 V8/Isuzu. Rover cars and very early 80" used several different ratios, and there have been other ratios supplied aftermarket as well. Best bet is to count teeth, unless you are sure you know the vehicle's history.
