In 95 I was rolling along the Stuart Hwy from katherine towards Three ways, it was 3 am and still hot (build up time). I was driving a old troopy, window down rolling along at 95/100 with a bull light and two side spots to light the way. Then out of noware theres a gust of wind and hot bitumin smell and somthing silent shot past faster than any thing Ive yet. Heres the freaky thing it had no lights, did not reflect any light ( I had a bull light and two spots out front) just a smudge that disapeared at the end of my lights a second later. Ive been back to the spot since, heading south , a long strech going up on to a jumpup with a marker for a WW2 depot.Strange how it just absorbed the light, hugging the road and disaperaring up the rise so quickly.
Still makes me creep out thinking about it whilst driving alone at night.

Double Bundy OP time and a change of underdaks I would think. Provided I could do both without getting out of the Troopy.

Bloody great account's here guys, when reading them my hairs stand up on the back of my neck, wonder what you all went through when it actualy happened. I guess its just one of those "In the right place, At the right time" things. Everytime i head out for a smoko in the back just by instinct my head looks up to the sky looking for shooting stars and thats all i get. Guess i just have to look a bit harder.

Has anyone heared of any recent encounters/sightings from any where, just seems to have died off.

    cheers simon

I reckon I saw a Thylacine on the back road through Mount Clunie one night on my way back from Fineflower. It ran across in front of the Defender and disappeared into the lantana on the other side of the road.

Yes I was weary and it was late, and let's face it Defender headlights aren't the best.

I've thought about all of the possible explanations (dingo with ribs showing, feral dog etc.) but I am convinced that is what I saw.

Or a large feral cat... also often mistaken for a "Panther" which I'm surprised hasn't cropped up on here yet.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Growing up as a teenager near the Grampians, we used to do a bit of shooting on a friends property at Pomonal. We would often find lamb carcases that had been taken and had certain organs removed. There was alot of foxes and some dogs around the area, but the lambs wernt ripped apart so to speak, but more of a focused disection if that makes sense. There was always alot of stories that went around regarding big cats, but never actually sighted one there.

Strathbogie on the other hand, is a different story. Strange animals there..

There are simple, logical explanations for most of the accounts I have read here. Several of them are good illustrations of the way the human mind works and have nothing to do with the supernatural.

Now where did I leave that flame proof suit?

Got another one, but from my brother. Years ago we used to go bush with our air rifles and shoot stuff (as one does as teenagers). Anyway, one day he headed out without me, went into the bush, did some shooting etc for a few hours.

He headed back to the car, which incolved crossing a creek about 5 meters wide, only knee deep tho. You have to walk the creek, with dense bush/shrub on the banks of the creek. So he passes the creek, walks up a hill to the car and hears some rumbling of bushes below. He first thought he was being followed by someone angry with hes antics, but saw the shrubs move violently until this 'beast' of sorts (looked human - standing upright) apeared on the bank of the creek.

Well, he said he almost **** himself then and there, the thing looked up at him and jumped the creek cleanly with one hop! My bro got into the car, and sped off as fast as he could. Needless to say, he nor I ever ventured back there! This is about 20+ years ago.

A couple of years ago I was doing a bit of research of the witch trials held in Salem, Massachusetts held in 1692. Whilst looking through the portraits I saw, to my amazement, the stone cold face of my mother in law staring back at me.

At that single moment, as the defrag in my head finished, everything was in it's right place and I was content with the knowledge that I was right.
