Looking for satellities was the thing to do in those days as there wasn't many of them around and it was a novelty to see one. Anyhow I saw this bright star/light moving across the sky and stopped just above the tree line. It remained there for several minutes then 3 smaller lights emerged from it and descended towards the ground. I kept watching it and about 10 minutes later the 3 small lights came back up into it and it did a rapid accelleration across the sky and disappeared. I can tell you the hair on the back of my neck was like a wire brush. Another night I was roo shooting in the station truck ( an old Fargo). It was winter and by about 1 in the morning I had about 20 roos on the back and decided to pull up for a cuppa and warm myself up a bit - my hand was frozen from holding the spotlight outside. Sitting there in the dark I was at peace with the world when suddenly I was in the beam of a spotlight which lit up the whole area. Thinking that a couple of my mates from the station next door had found me and had me in their spotlight beam I put my head out the window to see where they were and to my astonishment the light was coming from above me. When I looked up towards it it went out and there was nothing there. I drove back to the station at reckless speed I can tell you. Wouldn't go out spotting by myself after that experience. There was a lot of "UFO" sightings in that area back in the late sixties.
I was working on a property in Goodooga in the late 70s doing practical work while doing an Ag degree and used to go out spotlighting roos around the crops. One August night it was a moonless sky and the stars were blazing. I saw a very bright light out towards the horizon - in that flat country that can be quite a way at night. Suddenly it moved off at an incredible speed and then when it was about half way from where I saw it to where I was it stopped for about a minute then just went vertical at the same incredible speed. I watched it for another minute or so until it disappeared. I went home and changed the brown corduroys let me tell you.
On the ghost front, we used to share a house in Correys Ave in Concord with my partner - now my wife and another couple. On numerous occasions we used to lock the back door with the large bolt latch only to find the door open in the morning. You can only open it from the inside and none of us did it.
Other strange things used to happen like the dishes that we left on the table were stacked up on the side of the sink or glasses which we left on the coffee table would be on the kitchen table. My wife told me she woke one night to see an old woman standing at the end of the bed who just smiled and walked out of the room.
Our elderly neighbours who had lived next door for the past 45 years said when they moved in as a newly wed couple that the house we were in had an elderly widow living there and that she passed away by herself in the kitchen and was not discovered for a couple of days. I am getting goose bumps just remembering and typing this out.
