:twisted:Grumpy old man:twisted:......with foot in mouth.
I am surprised at the lackof interest in the first post though
no one was interested in the thread so i had a yarn with grockle instead :D
here are some pictures taken in daylight hours....interestingly enough (although taken on the phone camera) it does show numerous holes on the actual wheel which would spread the load more, but they do not correspond with any fixing on the boss!
looking at it again it does have holes in groups of three, and a previous post did mention that-his was fixed with nine fixings, if the boss is wrong for the steering wheel this would explain alot, just glad i made it home that night hey!
Grockle i didn't see that last post, he did go down the pit and worked shire horses after that went in the army for WWII then went back on the land,
i have pictures of him and the boss making stooks with a steam thresher in the foreground no combine just sythes ...what a hero he was top bloke
Looks like a mismatch all those holes should have bolts. I too am glad you got home ok :)
I have just sent an email too simmonites to see if i have been sent the correct boss, although at this stage of the game i am not inclined to go with another i will go with the standard land rover item.
I do realise that i was bloody lucky to make it back in one piece it's a bit vital really hey !!
Well i never heard back from simmo's might have to go back to plan A and ring them
here is the result from my email to Sharon at Simmo's:
Hi Andy,
I am very well thank you, I hope you are too (better than those damn steering wheels) it seams we have had a dodgy batch. I hoped we had re-claimed them all, obvousily not, I am so sorry and really glad that no one got hurt.
As we have lost faith in these steering wheels and have not found a suitable replacement as yet I think the best thing at the moment would be to offer you a full refund including the shipping.
I do apologise for this but at the moment I can offer no alternative.
Let me know your thoughts
Many thanks
Sharon
(If its any consolation its freezing here unlike your 30 deg )
:) Sounds like A good result to me. Take the money and run
what kind of wheel are you looking for.
I picked up a very old circa 60s I think race type wheel 3 spoke, leather rim, in very good condition. I got an after market boss kit from Auto Barn then had to make an adapter as the wheel was a perfect fit on the older type thicker Rangie steering column. It all went together nicely, even has RangeRover emblem in the centre.
