The question has been asked why all the Asian utes have drum brakes at the rear, I asked a guy who's supposed to be in the know and apparently its due to some law in Thailand that puts the vehicle into a commercial class and thus a different (lower) tax bracket. I think that land Rover did the same thing and stuck with the 2.5 lt engines due to some vehicle tax on the size of the engines, Europe is the biggest market so they build to fit that market, any one else is secondary.
