Gary, my $40 bushmaster pump has outlived at least 3 big named compressors owned by mates, if gets used at least 2 times a month, usually up to 4 times a month. It's inflated from bike tyres to 34's. In it's 5 years of ownership it has been smashed around, abused, overheated and generally mistreated. I am yet to kill it.

I've had a T-max Taipan for a couple of years now. Haven't had any probs with it.
One thing I did was ditch the battery clamps and fit an Anderson plug so I can connect it quickly to my existing front / rear Anserson plugs.

instead of building a prototype for Dr Who's K9 unit and having to cart the bloody thing around, why not utilise the existing compressor allready on the car. It works,it just needs an oil supply, plumbing up a pressure switch and an incab or under car cylinder.

you can drive it off of the PTO I've seen that several times with one that also had an air cylinder hooked up to the throttle with a return spring so that as the pressure in the tank dropped if the unit was hooked up (one linkage and an airvalve) it would apply more RPMs as the air pressure dropped.
The york still emits a small amount of oil (and a lot of condensate like any compressor) - so you need to top up the oil every 6 months or so.Quote:

Have the ARB portable unit. Wanted another mounted one but hard pressed for space. The hard case is useful for storing air hose, staun deflation valves and gauge.
Compressor is great. Pumps the Defender tryes from 18 to 40 in 1 minute 40 seconds. Have once done 4 vehicles in a row non stop and it handled it easily.
It is a huge improvement on the older ARB compressors which were stupidly slow. Should anything go wrong with them they apparently can be rebuilt/ repaired.

the other advantage of running an a/c compressor on a tdi or isuzu is that instead of using the battery, your using the motor to run the compressor, utilizing a cylinder gives you the ability to run pneumatic tools and err musical instruments.
Take a look at the locomotive horn kits, similar compressor and tank as a mainstream 4wd shop sells to run lockers, but for an extra bonus you get a loco horn to deafen Newtown based, paper pushing, book reading, tree loving but never actually seeing hippies at 30 paces
