Thread: URGENT- Wombat state forest track closure

This just came through to me via our 4wd club e-mail
This really gets me (insert any profanity you like here) when this happens.

FWDV - URGENT TRACK INFO

We have been advised by FWDV that there has been an unlawful major chemical dump of Arsenic contaminants on the Gibbs Access Track in the Wombat State Forest.

This is deemed to be a life threatening situation which is being currently being attended to by DSE.

FWDV has advised that people keep clear of this area until further notice. If you have any information in relation to this unlawful act, please contact FWDV on 9857 5209.

FWDV have also passed on notification of the possible closure of the Dairy Farm Flat Track in the Alpine National Park from Ranger Richard Laurier at Heyfield office.

The track closure is proposed to enable rehabilitation to damaged peat land that the track runs through. The closure does not limit access to the area; apart from the track itself. A ridge-top track not far to the East runs parallel to Dairy Farm Flat Track and links up to the same roads/tracks North and South of it.

This closure is still in the planning stage, FWDV are seeking feedback in relation to this track closure, and will inform us with further information as it comes to hand.
