No..... I fly!:p
A fair comment though, (I apply this to locals too) yet, without ever having a driven a 4wd or able to demonstrate any 4wd experience.....No I would not....I would not decide to try my hand in a foreign land with a full compliment of passengers either. I also acknowledge that I may be far more cautious/timid/sensible than others. Maybe age has chased away my 10ft tall and bullet proof youth. :(
As an aside, I would like to try Bungee jumping.
If I could buy a Bungee cord in say New Zealand I would not head off to the nearest chasm and presume to know how to use it safely just by listening to the shop keeper, I would have someone else who new what they were doing, tie it off or wehatever they do, and put my trust in someone qulified or experienced to keep me safe.
Most companies that operate 4Wd, train their staff and provide some form of accreditation or certificate of participation/ achievement, so hiring a 4wd for business, ie mining etc, shouldnt be a problem apon presentation of that. :BigThumb:
Unfortuneatly every time a tragedy like this happens anywhere, the powers that be, tend to miss the issue and regulate indescriminately in a knee jerk reaction. If the hire car industry doesnt act (IMO they wont because they will lose financialy) the regulators will act and close many places we freely visit or restrict the useage to the detriment of the majority, in order to protect the minority of unable, incapable, ill prepared or just plain dumb.
Yet another point for the anti 4wd movement to bash away at.
Cheers.
