Good onya Ron. Any plans post 20 Jan?
My son did a one day course (I think it was only a day but will ask him) through a TAFE in Adelaide in 2007. Is it done differently in other states?

Yep . I am at present on a farm and don't think I will make it through another winter sitting on the 4wheeler at 5.30 am in the stinking wind and rain.
I am looking at a job in a factory or maybe driving trucks.
Cheers Nev.
I am unfortunately going to change jobs or at the very least my employer. **** poor attitude from my current boss  means he will probably loose most of his crane drivers due to morale being in the minus category.
I am looking at going back to train driving or another crane company, time will tell.
I've been trying to get out of the current job for nearly 6 months now. Resigned months ago, but we keep extending because there's that much work on and the money's just too good to walk away from.
Anyway, I officially finished with them last Wednesday, but now going back to work for the same client after Christmas, but as an independent contractor for at least another 2 or 3 months. Might as well cut out the middle man and build the bank balance while the opportunity is there.
Hopefully, I'll be in the market for something a little closer to home in a few months.
I grew up not far from where you are Stuuu. Great part of the country to be, but I'm afraid I'm over the humidity these days. Where I'm working now, it's bloody hot (48 in the shade last week) - I can handle that, even though I don't enjoy it, but my last stint on Cockatoo Island was enough to put me off humidity for the rest of my life.
A couple more years based in Kalgoorlie .............. then off to Tassie for me.
Lived in and went to school in Moline, and spent a lot of time out around El Sharana, South Aligator, UDP etc. Remember going in to Twin Falls, Jim Jim and a lot of other places long before they invented Kakadu and the tourists started to get in there. There was only one brand of 4WD up there in those days.
I learnt to drive on the Moline tailings dumps in my old man's work Series II Landrover trayback. His personal car at the time was an Austin Freeway station wagon - a pretty rare sight up that way.
Went back there a few years ago and it's all changed now. Funny thing though that the park ranger at UDP (Gumlon) who had been working there on a seasonal basis for 7 years, didn't even know of a chain of rockholes and waterfalls about 5 km away in behind the old South Alligator mine & what's left of the old gold processing plant. It's all a bit overgrown now, but still able to be found if you know where to look.
Also came across a group of (comparatively) new houses just past El Sharana that wasn't there when I was a kid. Assumed that it was an exploration camp or something for Coronation Hill, which is only just down the road.
Sure am!
Not changing fields, but changing employer. I've got these to wear now:
