Good on you for putting your hand up and admitting a mistake.
I got done for excess .05 and reckless here in WA when i was 19, now at 29 i have only just been able to get my special excess ($1500) removed from my insurance.
I love to drive my cars and loooooooove(:D) a beer or three but if i drive i don't drink, if i drink i don't drive.
Its not worth the risk. I know i couldn't live with myself if i had a couple of beers and had and accident and hurt somebody i cared about
It is a lesson I wanted to share because I wasn't doing anything outrageous, just did something stupid that carries a big penalty.
Take a bit more care than I did.

some of the silly laws.....I can drive to work at .04 but I cant start work.....we have zero tolerance.....guess the law isnt really silly but if workplace health and safety are instituting zero tolerance on work sites its crazy that the road laws can still allow you to drive to work

As a follow up to this thread, today I had my day (5 mins) in court and I have my licence back. The amount of financial and emotional grief that this episode has caused has been substantial. I am lucky that I am better off to cope than most.
All I really want to say is don't take ANYTHING for granted, stick to your duty of care for others at all times and I hope my POS will start tomorrow.

Hi Digger,
Took the aircon out when I put the 81 body on 74 chassis. Didn't work anyway. In the original post I said it was 5 hours but that's wrong because it was at least 600 km round trip so would be more like 7.
Learnt at drunky school that that sort of dehydration causes similar loss of judgement etc as consuming alcohol. Will be much more careful in future.
