It's a personalized plate, he can't be impressed by the troopy.
A friend's police officer relative bought a new car years ago, it came with the plate PIG ???, and promptly sent back. I had a Cruiser wagon rego, PIG ***, very apt that one.

it is (or at least was) a standard issue plate from Qld transport. Early (after the Q plates) plates were issued in a 3 letter & 3 numbers format starting with "N", "O" or "P" and could be retained when vehicles were updated. They can still be ordered as "Retro" plates from PPQ (Personal Plates Qld).

The last black and white plates (excluding PPQ) would have been issued late '70s when we went to green on white and I think PPs were introduced. Initially the PPs were three letters and two numbers, in green on white.

    Ian,

agreed. my point was that you can keep your old issue plates when you update vehicles. I know of a bloke in Bundy that has black and white plates on his late model dunnydore that were first issued on his fathers Bettle and have been on a registered car in the same family since.

I have 11 sets of PP's, 2 "standard" green on whites and 9 black & white "Retro" plates, although all mine have been issued from PPQ in the last 10 or so years.

    Paul
