evenin me harties, whilst looking through 'I love big boats' magazine yesterday,I came across an article on cheap up grades and on page three there was a chap from Cobh(pronounced Cove) in Co cork who was thinking of swopping his ex Stenna Line ferry for something abit more well canal friendly.

So I rang Seamus O'Gunnall to get more details of his ferry, it was built in a greenhouse in Union Hall, West Cork around 1965 first being painted Green with 3 White bands, but the Captains wife(Erma)who didn't like the shade of white,so before it even had a dip in the water it was sold to a man from Dublin who collected all things nautical using the now named vessell, MV Empty, for a garden ornament, getting fed up with it blocking out the sun light light from the up stairs toilet where he spent alot of time thinking put the MV Empty up for sail(pun)

A director at Stenna Line Europe, Poraig Flynn, saw it in the garden whilst out walking his pet Lama called Yarna which rhymes with lama first talking about the weather and the new lady weather announcer on RTE 1 and how big her upper arms looked on the screen, agreed a deal on the MV Empty doing a straight swop for an ex shop display Pye colour TV (19")with built in video player, returning a hour later with the co's 109 with pintle tow hitch hooked up the ferry and upon engaging low box pulled the vessell off the lawn and set off for the port of Ringaskiddy,re engaging high box set off for some playing off the coast with Stenna Lines new addition.

Well first he couldn't find the key for the safety chain on the towbar, then shortly after dropping his teeth down a storm drain decided to forget all about the day and got the bus home, about three months later he had a knock on the door from a Garda Officer Mullen, who knowing Poraig had some sailing books had an ingcling that the loaded boat trailer abandonded a bus ride away belonged to Poraig,a rather embarrased Poraig told Garde Mullen the story, after some tea and five games of snooker(Poraig let Garde Mullen win)'tack ticks ya see he later let out in the corner shop',got off with a boat parking light light violation of 35p(payable by cheque or bank transfer.

So I'm thinking of swopping SS Ho Har for the MV Empty as we could have an indoor off road track,a fully equiped workshop(for Harry) and we can have enough parking on board for all our Land Rovers and re naming her the MV Ho Har, so what do the crew think?
