Going by the number of rear difs that TRS seem to change or fix every week, as well as the mileage you guys do, I would sagest that it may be a good time for some investment.

TRS offered to swap out my dif and replace it with one with disks and up rated axles for $1200. Already for a locker. But then i realized that it was a rover dif and that for 1200 I was getting the dif for free and only paying for the axles and a bit of labor and that they really wanted the Sals

It "may" be fine, however I wouldn't want an 8.25" spiral bevel crownwheel instead of a 9.75" hypoid salisbury.

It will be interesting to see what broke - centre or crownwheel and pinion...

I have heard of this happening to a few 110s and 130s. IMHO removing the sals is up there on the list of least sensible things that land rover have ever done.

Personally I wouldn't put a rover diff in (or another P38A) - IMHO they aren't up to the job of hauling such heavy payloads to remote locations.
Yes mine is an '02 model with a Sals.

Hasn't been pulled apart yet but you can hear a noise when moving the truck and it does drive on the front axle...hopefully Paul can pull it apart tomorrow

No it is just a matter of time.

I have a 95 defender with the Sals in the back but the front is a Rover and it is about to come out as my man said it was shot. Putting in an ARB locker changing shafts and cvees so hopefully one less thing to worry about.

    Hey there C and H!

I KNOW you is a wimin, but isn't it about time to fit a MANS diff, a Sals with locker, so the old red will be virtually bulletproof??? (Except for that lightweight car transmission; but that Td5 aint got enough torque to hurt it.... yet )

Hope it gets sorted OK, but I would seriously look at tossing that P38 rear end, IMHO they are just not up to it

If you end up needing a p38 style 4 pin diff let me know, i have a few, and can have it to you in under a day.

I always thought that you couldnt swap them around with standard rover ones

    Quick Hijack,

Hows the motor in that RR Andy??? Was it damaged or anything as I thought it was stolen recovered wasn't it?
That G force would be great under a 110...

dunno, it looks ok, but i havent seen it since the auction. It had very clean, full oil and coolant, fresh plugs etc. the tyres werent scredded, but i havent spied it since the auction.

I dont know how it was driven when stolen as the steering lock is intact

will take it fr a drive tomorrow arvo.

Ah, may be a different vehicle but I thought there was a mention of 'stolen/ recovered' in the auction description.

So,, any plans / ideas you want to share???
