I am thinking Maxi drives as they are stronger and maybe last more than 60,000 klms:o:eek:;)
really don't need a diff lock as we don't take it serious off roading just the tracks you do when travelling around:eek: some of them have been a bit:o but we manage:D

You were lucky to get that far, LR put only a token gesture of grease on the splines during manufacture, its up to the service agent/s to inspect and lube these at regular intervals, and report their condition. I'm guessing that hasn't happened:( Didn't it feel excessively clunky???
Any axle will fail if it isn't lubricated in the drive flange splines, even a Hytuff/ Maxi one.

Good to see it wasnt your diff or crutch playing up.
Much cheaper repair ahead.
Now yours is sorted just look how many 130s you spot dont have standard drive members on display. They wouldnt be swaping them and retaining standard axels!!!!

Any pictures of the axle damage Mrs H?
You know the :rulez:
Well, in the abscence of pics at the present time, Derek, just picture a cros-sectional end on view of a hot dog roll (with filling), and you get the idea. Made of about the same stuff, too:p
