great occupation I work in the state system the good kids make up for the many pains in the butt.

A lot of job satisfaction I was an engineer for 25 years and have been teaching for 6 and do not regret going back to uni one bit. An excellent quality of life.

I am a secondary teacher in the Catholic sector. I teach English, Outdoor Education and am the Head of VCAL (trade preparation for senior kids NOT wanting to do the VCE) at a large regional College in Gippsland.

I am passionate about what l do. My biggest gripe as an educator, is parents. "My son/daughter would never do that..." "He would never say that..." Principals are so **** scared of being sued that they often do not back their staff for fear of Today Tonight rolling up the College driveway...this is not a pretty side to the profession. Not being supported can leave you feeling fairly gutted to be honest.

I have taught primary to - not my thing as a bloke. Too hard.

I work long hours - usually on outdoor trips (upto 2 weeks at a time). But l love that - guiding kids down whitewater rivers, hiking them through the snow, canoeing them on lakes etc. Fun factor = huge.

I'm not a teacher but work in a school in a tech support role (design technology electronics tech.) It is a wonderful environment to work in and for me, being able to work closely with the boys is a real buzz. Sorting out problems with designs and giving them new eyes on designs, and vice versa, makes it all worthwhile.

Am seriously considering doing my Dip Ed post grad.......

well I have done 1 year part time doing primary but jumped at the opportunity when the new course-primary and secondary when it was offered so it does mean i will finish later but will be able to teach in both which should increase my job opportunities and give me more flexibility on what i want to teach.

Yeh, TAFE teacher as well (heavy diesel), may not be dealing with such young children as primary school, BUT sometimes you may think so. It gives your perspective on life a different side to when you are only working with adults. As said previously, if you think it's a cushy job, think again, but it has it's rewards. To see a kid do well is awsome.

I'm an instrumental music teacher. So I 'do a run' ie teach in different schools each day, has it's positives and negatives. I've taught in Catholic schools, independent schools and state schools. Kids are kids are kids. My only savior is that i'm basically a 'gifted and talented' program so i can get rid of naughty/non-interested kids
