No need to burn them and attract attention. Just put them in a lock up and after paid out, quietly park them on a street in a lower socio-economic area unlocked.

Lexus have had really bad resale value since day one. Ask the trade who generally regard them as just another Toyota in fancy dress. Ask anyone who had one on a lease with a high residual and had to renew the lease because they could not afford to pay out the difference between the residual and the trade-in price.

My stepdads ex traded her lexus of the same year as my mums camry, and mum got more for the trade in on the camry than the ex got for the lexus, and this was only about 3 months apart (lexus hed less kays aswell)

Now I just have to ask...are not Lexus Tojo's? If so why the lousy resale value?

Errr, have any of you Lexus Detractors ever DRIVEN one?? If not then I would have to say trust me, they are NO toyota Camry.

Low Resale $$$ are an advantage for me and others that want high quality reliable and luxury vehicles for a good price. And yes, I'd be MAD to buy a new one

I also have the same questions fired at me about Saabs etc, a good 95 can be had for less than 12K now, 6 years after it was $88k

I think the majoirity of people must be scared of owning these vehicles, but all the examples I have seen have no more or less faults than many other makes, infact I'd own a Saab95 turbo before I'd buy most any other 4cyl luxury performance car. Just fitting a Turbo to one at the moment, failed due to lack of oil changing and no idling before shut down. Typically it isn't a design fault of the vehicle, maintenance being the issue.

Justin, it is not just Lexus & SAAB. Although you are quoting the two so-called "luxury" cars that have possibly the worst resale value of all this class of car. Most "luxury"
cars have poor resale value. I recently saw a very tidy SAAB auctioned at $3,250. I was not paying attention and it was knocked down before I got a finger in the air. I have seen fair condition lesser models of BMW go for $1,000 -$3,000. Ask the P38a owners about resale value. $100,000+ cars that auction for $7,000 to $14,000. The first V12 BMW's sold new around $265,000. At five years were wholesaling under $50,000 if a buyer could be found, and are now virtually unsaleable. "Luxury" car sales are also very susceptible to economic conditions. Many of the poseurs who buy them have no money, but a capacity to borrow, all hat and no cattle as is said in outback Queensland. If their business is going bad then they don't or can't buy or can't repay, as the lenders throttle them off, turn off the drip. Pose value of a second hand luxury car also has a bit to do with it. These people don't want to be known at the golf/yacht/polo club/private school as someone who buys used cars.

What is the parts commonality between Lexus and Toyota? This may explain why the trade thinks of them as a Toyota in fancy dress, like late model Jaguars built on Ford Mondeo platforms, or the front engine Porsche made by VW/Audi.

The problem with this theory is that these areas would be saying "Wot is dat man?? Its not a Ford or Holden, better not touch it"

I should have written "unlocked with the keys in the switch". Ferals will then go for a drive, wreck the car, and remove their DNA from the gene pool.
