I understand there is a range of 'family' attractions on the Gold Coast and rather than carting the clan out into the outback we are considering a few days on the GC. I'm pretty sure I'll hate it but that's not the point, we havea a 7 and 4 yo and if they'd like it I'll do it. Can anyone please provide any advice or experience?

I would also suggest Sea World. I took my daughter there and she loved it. It's got a couple of rides, but that isn't the focus of it. I even liked a couple of things too, so you (perhaps) will enjoy it.
If the speed of light = 299,792,458 m/s, what is the speed of dark?
Thanks guys. I understand the GC is good for theme parks and things to do, hence the question, no specific activities in mind other than what the kids would enjoy. I don't mind zoos and suchlike, I just hate crowds and hours of waiting in line for rides, I tend to drift off and be thinking of beautiful wide open outback areas with no queues for anything. Might rekindle the scuba dive ticket as well.
Quite a few families have been started there.

For Kids that age if it's all about them... then Seaworld & Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary would be the go, plus Wet N Wild water park. For something the adults would enjoy to is Outback Spectacular (7yo should love, not positive if 4yo would sit still for a 90min show).
Couple really good Putt Putt's here, go thunderegg fossicking at Thunderbird Park plus of course beaches and even more importantly the GCLRO![]()

Yep I live and work on the gold coast, beautiful place. I go bush at everyopportunity I can get.
Apart from a couple of the theme parks i'd steer well clear of the place, bloody horrible tacky monstrosity it is. I rather take them up to Mt Tamborine and other inland natural wonders.

From what I see I'm inclined to agree about tackiness, but my kiddos won't see it that way which is the point.
GCLRO...interesting...do they also have a theme park?
If you decide to go to some of the "attractions" it might pay to buy your entry tickets before you leave as they are usually cheaper in Vic than on the coast. There are deals with RACV etc
Queues etc can be a problem especially with young ones. A day trip to the Hinterland and possibly O'Reilly's and do the tree top walk. Get there early so you have walk to yourself before the other tourists hog it.
