I'm interested in hearing how all the Shannons guys got their insurance. When I rang, and having answered their qualifying questions, they said I wasn't an "enthusiast" and wouldn't insure me for my modded D1.

    What's the go??

Must have given the correct answers I suppose.

I have no infringements, ever. (26yr Male) No accidents, claims.
Owned a few cars and motorbikes. Sent them a heap of pics and details of my rover, got my 97 disco 1 insured for $30,000. Also did it in conjunction with my dad, his three cars and his house.

The Shannon's proposal came via previous insurer GIO, with a letter from GIO saying they no longer insure cars that old, or something to that effect. 1974 is technically a veteran car.

Shannon's were only interested in any infringements, claims and accidents in the last 5 years.

    cheers, DL

I've had no claims, and maybe one or two small speeding fines (5km over)... Maybe I'll try them again and see how I go.

Suggest you PM QLDMIKE and see exactly what he did. Mine was easy, they wanted my business as per previous posts. I've only had one 4k claim in 30 years and that didn't come into the equation.

    cheers, DL

I've got all of mine with elders, (public liability, dog insurance, hunting insurance, and two cars) They were the cheapest around, been with them for over 2 years without an increase in the premium and when I swapped the third party from AAMI to them for my bluebird, it cost me half as much for better protection. They have also given me a great deal on the 'fender considering that I am under 25.

It's starting to really peeve me (no swearing! how good am I?)
You need to ring the RACV back and ask for Jason. He will look after you.
