well it's pretty obvious what's instigated this cafuffle

i like banter threads, i normally don't contribute because i tend to cop **** from both sides over them but i think they have an important role to play.

but, i need to find a long term solution to the issue.

i say that because it has been something that has contributed heavily to my inbox over a long period, not just because of the latest little foray into the morass.

so for the record my thoughts on this are

i am not talking about deleting anything, just about creating a section for banter threads so i can set them up so they don't show up in searches.

people with an interest can still subscribe to them and get the latest updates etc and contribute to their hearts content they just wont show up in searches

so, is that a viable solution for the moment?

Sounds like an answer to me. Normally for forum sections I'm not interested in I just double click to mark them all as read, but I don't necessarily want to do that for the whole of 'general chat'. If the banter threads were in a section of their own I could effectively disregard them - even better if they don't come up in searches.

works for me... will you also exclude the posts from the users post count? watch out if you do... the threads will move back to general chat...

I like a good banter thread (aka the stars thread of years gone by) but when it becomes all about half a dozen virtual friends having a chin wag, that's what the "chat" function is for - is it still functional Inc?... goes off to check...

In terms of causing no harm - sorry I disagree - you guys are using bandwidth for every post you write and every search conducted by every user... bandwidth costs $$ - the person paying in the majority is Inc.

Being polite, yes, but that aint the end of the story.... it comes across to the average 'non-skulls' user as an old boys club - not the intention I know, but that's how it reads at times...

Lastly, I can't complain too much about you guys absorbing my partial funding for the site though as I'm not currently a subscriber, but I have been in the past and will again in the future...

as per my previous post, I think you guys should either take it to the chat room or admit you are post whores

I should highlight that I have no axe/s to grind with any of the skullers - in case it comes off that way and I've really enjoyed reading and posting in some of those threads over the years, but I think it is the elevated inanity of the skulls/temple thread that is causing 'friction' in the ranks...
