    cars on trailers

I can not belive the things that people get away with. Yesterday I happened to start to follow a vehicle that was towing a car trailer with anothe car onboard. As I was following, the car on the trailer was sliding from side to side on the trailer. Then i noticed that it WAS NOT TIED DOWN. Only thing that was holding it on was the winch cable at the front of the trailer. Another accident waiting to happen. Heaven forbid if he were in any form of an accident. obviously that was of no concern to the driver and probably made it to his destination trouble free.
These things irritate me when I see them.

Not knowing what the vehicle was or its condition if it is in gear and has the handbrake on and has the winch cable still attached then to be fair i think that is enough, of course if going up hill down dale etc tying down would be preferred but as it is i cant see anything wrong.

    x16........

It quite clear states on the front of a lot of trailers DO NOT LEAVE THE CAR ATTACHED TO THE WINCH WHEN TRANSPORTING.

    very dangerous...

cars should always be tied down.....leaving it in gear should be seen as an extra safety percaution..and relying on a handbrake of a land rover is just a joke

EDIT: oh and we have hired a few trailers laterly..and would just like to point out, the twin axled trailers that we have hired the winches have not even been rated to pull the Landies we have
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

I reckon some of the coppers I know would not hesitate to book him for having an insecure load. The fact that the car was sliding around says enough. What would happen if he had to hit the picks hard? It probably break through the front of the trailer. If he was the only one that got hurt then that wouldn't be so bad, but it never seems to work out that way does it?

I was practicing for a recovery operation that didn't eventuate last week & ended up using 2 snatch blocks to get a P38 onto my trailer. Made the winch operation nice & easy .
